Description:
World Of English: Objective
To ensure students are equipped with essential skills needed to embrace the acquisition of proper English through the building of solid foundations which can lead to life-long self-learning and mastery of English as the universal language.
These are the important facts which every parent should know.
What is Pre-reading?
Pre-reading skills are reading readiness skills that children commonly and predictably develop based on their age before they are able to read.
Pre-reading activities will help children to develop:
- their visual memory,
- their attention span, and
- the ability to identify objects (visual discrimination)
What is Pre-writing?
Pre-writing skills are the fundamental skills children need to develop before they are able to write. These skills contribute to the child's ability to hold and use a pencil, and the ability to draw, write, copy, and colour. A major component of pre-writing skills are the pre-writing shapes.
Pre-writing activities help children to develop:
- the ability to control small precise movements with the fingers, wrists and hands
- the ability to hold and move a pencil fluently and effectively and therefore produce legible writing
- In terms of fine motor skills, these activities aim to refine children's ability to move their fingers and their hands
*Important fact:
When these skills are under-developed, it can lead to frustration, resistance to writing and reading, low self-esteem and poor academic performance.
