There is nothing more fun than spending quality time with your family but what makes it a little less fun is that you always find yourself doing the same activities over and over again! It’s just another shopping mall every weekend…
Why not explore the options of going outdoor with your family instead? We have come up with a list of places that you can go to! Did we tell you that all these activities are FREE? Psst… you can now save that money for your new kitchen cabinets, right moms?
1.KLCC Park and Playground
KLCC Park and Playground are like a one-stop center for you and your family. You can enjoy a picnic in the park while your kids play around in the wading pool and the playground! There is also a lake symphony with an amazing fountain & light show which your family can witness at night. Alternatively, you can jog with your kids if you are into the healthy and active lifestyle. If the heat is too hot for your family to handle, you can always find shelter under the gazebos available around the park or just walk into the Suria KLCC shopping center! You can drive your family here or take the public transport such as the LRT and alight at the KLCC station.
2.Batu Caves Temple
As we all know, Malaysia is a melting pot of many races which comprises of three major ones - Malay, Chinese and Indian. So, if your family wants to be exposed to more cultural activities, we suggest you visit Batu Caves and experience the beauty of the limestone caves and the Lord Murugan Temple. Batu Caves is a good place for sight-seeing and there are also other activities your family can do there such as rock-climbing & dark cave tour but these activities aren’t free. Traffic condition in this area vary from time to time so to be safe, you can take the KTM Commuter train instead and alight at the Batu Caves Station.
3.KL Forest Eco Park
Who says you have to go out of KL to enjoy some peaceful time in nature and a healthy hike? Located at Bukit Nanas, this million-years-old rainforest is one of the oldest forest reserves in Malaysia. This hidden treasure is a popular hiking spot among the locals and tourists from all over the world. Other than hiking, your family can also enjoy the 200m canopy walk while enjoying the aerial view of the forest and the city skyline. How to get there? You can board the LRT and alight at the Dang Wangi station or take the monorail and alight at the Bukit Nanas station. You would have never thought it would be possible to take a train to the forest, right?
4.Dataran Merdeka Heritage Guided Tour
Ever wonder how life was like in Kuala Lumpur back in the olden days? Your family can join this free guided tour which is exclusively brought to you by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall. The tour is designed to educate locals and tourists on how the colonial part of Kuala Lumpur came into being. The heritage walk will take you to eleven historical sites located inside the vicinity of Dataran Merdeka. You can drive your family to Dataran Merdeka or if you want to avoid the traffic, you can always take the LRT and alight at Masjid Jamek station and make your way to the Dataran Merdeka by foot. This free guided walk is available every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9.00 am till 11.30 am.
5.Wheelie Sunday @ Publika
Looking for a place to cycle with your family without having to compromise the comfort and convenience of a mall? Wheelie Sunday @ Publika provides you just that! Bring your own bicycle, scooter, roller blades and skateboards and enjoy a car-free cycling area within the Publika compound. Don’t have your own bicycle? No worries! You can ask the information counter for rentals. The session starts from 7.00 am till 10.00 am before the gate opens for cars to enter. Exhausted from the cycling? Head inside the mall and refresh & stuff yourself with one of the many eateries available in Publika.
