UPSR is just around the corner and other than making sure your children are doing their homework and revision, you will also need to watch your kids’ diet. As the saying goes - We Are What We Eat – so you need to make sure your kids are eating healthy to help boost their memory and to help them be more focused! How, you might ask? Below, we have listed down, THREE dessert recipes that you can prepare for your kids! Not only they’re yummy, they’re beneficial for the kids too!



1. Chocolate Blueberry Smoothies

Fresh blueberries are power-packed with brain-protective antioxidants and so does chocolate! Talk about a powerful combination! By combining these two powerful ingredients, your kids will not just have a tasty drink but also a healthy meal that is good for their brain.

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Frozen Blueberries

2 Teaspoons of Cocoa Powder

1 Cup of Full Cream Milk/Fresh Milk

¼ Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract

2 Teaspoons of Maple Syrup/Honey

Directions:

1.     Blend all ingredients until smooth. You can strain the blended ingredients through a fine mesh strainer for a smoother texture.

2.     Garnish drinks with some fresh blueberries!

 

2. Raw Walnut Fudge

Did you notice that the walnut looks like our brain? Coincidence? We don’t think so! Actually, walnuts are really good for our brains. It is rich in a variety of nutrients to support brain health including vitamin E, omega-3 fats, copper, manganese, and fiber for brain-supportive gut bacteria. Provide your kids with all this goodness by trying out this raw walnut fudge recipe. Yum, healthy dessert for your kids!

Ingredients:

1 Cup of organic coconut oil (melted/liquid)

1/4 Cup of organic raw cacao powder

1/4 Cup of organic maple syrup

1/4 Cup of organic almond butter

1/4 Cup of organic walnuts (chopped)

1 Teaspoon of organic vanilla bean powder

Directions:

1.     Add all ingredients into a medium-sized bowl and stir until they’re well-combined and smooth.

2.     Spread evenly on a 5 x 9 bread pan.

3.     Put in the freezer for approximately 30-60 minutes or until it hardens.

4.     Store in an air-tight BPA-free container in the freezer until it is ready to serve because it will get soft and lose its shape if it is left out at room temperature.

5.     Enjoy!

 

3. Avocado Ice Cream

Avocado contains Folate which is essential for brain health and the maintenance of cognitive function including memory. Let’s tackle your kids’ sweet tooth and their brain performance with this yummy Avocado Ice Cream recipe!

Ingredients:

One 8-ounce of avocado, halved, pitted and peeled

One 14-ounce Can of sweeten condensed milk

2 Tablespoons lemon juice (from 1 lemon)

A pinch of fine salt

2 Cups of cold heavy cream

Directions:

1.     Chill the loaf pan in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

2.     Puree the avocado, milk, lemon juice and salt in a blender until they are smooth for about 1 minute then transfer to a large bowl.

3.     Whip the cream in another large bowl for around 2 minutes with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until firm peaks form.

4.     With a rubber spatula, fold about 1 cup of the whipped cream into the avocado puree until combined.

5.     Fold the lightened mixture back into the whipped cream until well blended.

6.     Pour into the chilled loaf pan and place in the freezer until firm for 4 hours or just leave it overnight.
