School Holiday Adventure with MRT

Published on 30 November, 2018

School holidays can be so much fun! It’s a chance for you and your child to spend some quality time together.

With no preparations for school the night before, no mad dash to get them to school on time in the morning, no homework and no reports from the teacher to consider, school holidays should be a wonderful time for you and especially for the kids! Why not explore this favorite city of ours since you have more time together now? Your children would also be excited if your exploration involves taking the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit)! With the new MRT line, you don't have to worry about the traffic jam or parking problems anymore when you want to have a family outing. But where can you take them with the MRT? Here are some great stops for you to enjoy and spend some much-needed TLC time with the kids.

Cochrane Station

Just drop by the Cochrane station and you will be able to head straight for IKEA Cheras and MyTown Shopping Mall. They have an indoor playground for your kids to play for free! If you’re willing to walk a little further or go to the next stop, Maluri station, Sunway Velocity Mall and AEON Big are also accessible via a pedestrian walkway. If your kids wish to experience ice-skating minus the worry of getting wet, Kidxy have just the activity for them to try! Experience Like Ice! Asia Ice skating, an iceless skating ring located in Sunway Velocity Mall. Apart from that, there are also various choices for food and beverages to the movies and shopping, surely there is something for the family!

If arts and handicrafts are your things, then Central Market is a place for you to visit. There is also an outdoor stage next to it where you and your family can enjoy cultural performances from different cultures of Malaysia. Central Market is accessible via the MRT SBK Line and the LRT Kelana Jaya Line. A mere 500m away, you’ll come across Petaling Street, home to Kuala Lumpur’s Chinatown. Here you can find bargains for clothes and souvenirs. You can also indulge in some decadent street food with the selection of stalls along the roads and in the alleys.

Drop by at the Mutiara Damansara station and you will be connected to The Curve and IKEA by the walkway. Besides Ikea and The Curve Shopping Mall, you can try ice skating at The Royale Bintang Damansara which is a five-minute walk away. Kidzania is also nearby – it is just a few minutes’ walks away. Your kids will definitely enjoy their time here!

Stadium Kajang Station

Once in the busiest area of Kajang, it seemed impossible to find any parking at Medan Sate Haji Samuri. Now, not anymore. With MRT, you can eat Kajang Satay hassle-free. Located at the second last station before Kajang Terminal (if you are traveling from Kuala Lumpur), satisfy your family appetite for sate at Medan Sate Kajang Haji Samuri. It is located around 100 meters away from the station and offers several types of satay, from chicken, beef, fish, to even mutton, chicken liver and many more!

Bukit Bintang Station

Bukit Bintang Station has several exits, linking it to Pavilion KL, Fahrenheit 88, Sungei Wang Plaza, Starhill Gallery, Lot 10, Berjaya Time Square and several other shopping malls.  Our suggestion? Stop by the Selfie Museum in Fahrenheit 88 to get some memorable pictures with the family. With a free entrance for children below 2 years old, surely the little ones will enjoy taking pictures with the large-scale desserts!

Traveling with MRT is convenient, cheap, and faster. With all 31 stations along the line, the MRT connects towns around Kuala Lumpur to the cosmopolitan. With effective ticketing system, clean environment, high frequency of trains, ample car park, feeder bus & taxi connections together with strategically designed walkways, it surely will be a great experience for you and the family. So are you ready to take a ride? Don't forget to wear comfortable shoes and bring along your umbrella!
