At Finns Boutique Swim Centre, we take pride in child-centered approach. A child-centered approach encourages children to take learning aquatic education & swimming into their own hands in a safe and comfortable water environment. Our aquatic education & swimming curriculum are based on the belief that children are active participants in their learning. Contrary to the conventional swimming curriculum involving strict soldier-like routine, we take “Water Play” seriously with active listening and observation of each individual child. The aim is to create a curriculum based on water play activities, planned for each individual child in different age groups, according to the child’s attributes and needs, at his/her own pace. Research showed that water play activities are closely related to learning abilities, by developing the characteristics required in learning, such as curiosity, openness, optimism, resilience, concentration, and creativity. Our guidance also emphasises the importance of creating JOY OF LEARNING in water, through the child's cognitive and physical development, as well as social emotion enrichment. There is an emphasis on physical play activity, nonetheless, is a serious business, at least for our educators, because it gives children vital skills in how to learn and its done in a small teacher to children group. Finns water-play is when children are learning about the world of water around them and developing important swimming skills through play. They develop at their own pace and reach milestones at different times in three key pillars of development which we assess using Finns Triadic Assessment. Our water play curriculum is both a philosophy of child development attributes, and a rationale for guiding balanced growth of the child. It is based upon the child’s developmental milestone needs for freedom, as well as carefully prepared environment which encourages maximum exposure to experience which aid learning skills for life.
